Sixth Form Year 13 “Success Seminars” event

On Wednesday 9th March, year 13 were invited to an afterschool event to motivate, encourage and support students with their academic progress for their upcoming A level exams. An excellent turn out with 90 students taking responsibility for their learning!

Students had the opportunity to attend their option block “Subject seminar sessions” which were kindly led by their A level teachers. A“Study Skills for Success” workshop was held by the Sixth Form learning mentor Mrs Kirk and students also had the chance to share good practice and view examples of revision work on display for the “excellence exhibition”. Well done to the subject ambassadors who took responsibility for showing their time, effort and dedication in their work; you should be really proud of yourselves for leading by example. There is some exceptional pieces of revision so keep this up!

We also welcomed external professionals Zoe, Melissa, Chloe and Katie from Coventry and Warwickshire MIND. Ame who is an Education Mental Health Practitioner from the Mental Health in Schools Team from the NHS also came along. There was a wealth of information, advice and guidance shared about mental health and wellbeing for our students to support them during the examination season. The free gifts for our students were positively received including motivational posters, pens, stress balls and travel mugs! A brilliant collaborative effort from all involved, thank you for your support to our students.

Furthermore, students had the invaluable opportunity to meet, listen and read the wise words of former, exemplary A+ grade Sixth Form students Katie, Charlotte and Emily who got top grades in their exams and secured their place at university several years ago. They divulged their top tips for A Level success! An exceptional talk to all students from Katie and brilliant workshop by Charlotte and Emily. We really appreciate the time and effort you shown to the event which wouldn’t have been a ‘success’ without you in it!

We ended the evening with a prize draw for students attendance to the event, subject ambassador efforts and completion of the ‘takeaway booklet’ work throughout the event. We hope you enjoyed Mr Bradbury’s hot dogs served from his camper van too! Well done to the year 13 students who took the time to attend. We are really proud of you so far, keep going with your revision! You can do it and we certainly believe in you. Now it’s over to YOU to revise hard for your exams!

Best of luck for the final weeks of year 13.

Mr Bradbury, Mrs Campbell-Birch & Mr Cole.
